Recently I have been carving out a presence for myself on Last.fm. This has been a little tricky as there is already a singer-songwriter called Mark Ward occupying the page that would be mine.
I don’t know if you’re familiar with how Last.fm works but what really bothered me was that every time anybody listened to my music on the web it was being, “scrobbled”, to the other Mark Ward’s account.
This triggered a flurry of activity on my part including gathering some of my recent tracks together into another EP and publishing it on Bandcamp and Last.fm.
I have uploaded a lot of my music to Last.fm now to correct the situation but unfortunately Last.fm can’t support two artists with the same name so we have to share the Mark Ward page. We are chalk & cheese. It’s a far from perfect solution but a least I get the credit for the music I publish on the web now instead of this total stranger that happens to share my name.
